Importing materials from China to Morocco, package by package.
Tiles, sanitary ware, taps, doors and windows, panels, lighting: what is checked on entry into Morocco, what pays an anti-dumping duty, how to load a container and when to inspect. With the official sources: Ministry of Industry (MCINET) and customs.
In short
How do you import building materials from China to Morocco?
Split the project into packages and, for each one, verify the tariff code and the compliance check: tiles, cement, taps and wood panels are checked on arrival, electrical equipment and light fittings at origin, with a certificate. Have the goods inspected before shipment, then import with your import licence or with DDP delivery.
What is imported from China
Six families of materials, and what applies to each.
Each family has its own tariff code, its own check and its own points to watch. The regime shown comes from the Ministry of Industry's lists updated on 20 February 2026.
Tiles and porcelain stoneware
Ceramic wall tiles, porcelain stoneware, large formats. Heavy: the container fills up by weight. Each area is ordered in a single shade and a single calibre.
Checked on arrival
Sanitary ware and taps
Glazed ceramic sanitary appliances, shower hoses and sanitary taps are on the list of checked products.
Checked on arrival
Doors and windows
Interior wooden doors are checked on arrival; wooden or metal windows and glass for buildings, at origin.
On arrival or at origin
Panels and wood
Wood panels and sandwich panels are checked on arrival. Plywood from China also pays an anti-dumping duty.
Check and anti-dumping
Lighting and electrical
Lamps, chandeliers, light fittings, cables and low-voltage electrical equipment: certificate of conformity obtained in China, before shipment.
Checked at origin
Kitchens and furniture
Household and kitchen furniture, beds and mattresses are on the list of products checked on arrival in Morocco.
Checked on arrival
Compliance checks
Checked in China or on arrival in Morocco.
Building-related extracts from the Ministry of Industry (MCINET) lists updated on 20 February 2026. A product checked at origin leaves China with its certificate of conformity; a product checked on arrival is inspected in Morocco, at customs clearance. The lists change: check your product when you order.
Checked at origin (certificate before shipment)
- Low-voltage electrical equipment
- Lamps, chandeliers and light fittings
- Electrical cables and conductors
- Wooden or metal windows
- Glass for buildings: toughened, laminated, wired
Checked on arrival in Morocco
- Ceramic tiles and cement
- Glazed ceramic sanitary appliances, shower hoses
- Sanitary taps
- Wood panels, sandwich panels, interior wooden doors
- Paints and varnishes, waterproofing sheets, plastic water pipes
- Household and kitchen furniture, beds and mattresses
Anti-dumping duties
Some Chinese products pay an extra duty.
An anti-dumping duty is added to the standard import duty, for a specific product of a specific origin. Situation according to the latest notices from the Ministry of Industry: check it before you order.
- Plywood from China
- Anti-dumping duty of 76%: the review closed in July 2023 concluded that it should be extended for five years at that rate. It covers plywood made of sheets no more than 6 mm thick, in okoumé or various woods. Certain specific panels are excluded.
- Thick-core panels
- Blockboard, laminboard and battenboard from China and Indonesia: anti-dumping investigation opened in February 2026. In July 2026, the ministry envisaged a provisional duty of 82% for Chinese origin.
- LED street lighting fittings
- Chinese origin: investigation closed in December 2025, with the ministry having envisaged a definitive anti-dumping duty of 27%.
- What it changes
- A duty of 76% or more can wipe out the whole point of importing a package from China: work it out on the correct tariff code before you order.
The method
Planning the project package by package.
- 01
Split into packages
Tiles, sanitary ware and taps, joinery, lighting, furniture: one package per family, with its quantities, its factories and its tariff code.
- 02
Check the regime for each package
Import duty, VAT, check at origin or on arrival, any anti-dumping duty: on the customs ADIL portal and on the ministry's lists, before approving the quote.
- 03
Approve the samples
For tiles, note the shade and calibre chosen: each area must be delivered in a single shade and a single calibre.
- 04
Plan for the certificates
For lighting, electrical equipment, windows and glass, the certificate of conformity is obtained in China, before the goods leave.
- 05
Inspect before the balance payment
A check at the factory before departure: dimensions, shade, visible defects, packaging and number of parcels, with a photo report.
- 06
Load and ship
Tiles fill the container by weight, furniture and light fittings by volume. The packages leave together or in phases, depending on how the building work is progressing.
The container
Tiles, a matter of weight.
Tiles reach a container's weight limit well before its volume limit. A 40-foot container offers twice as much space as a 20-foot, but no more payload: tiles therefore generally travel in 20-foot containers.
To give an order of magnitude, a 20-foot container carries about 27 tonnes, or roughly 1,200 to 1,300 m² of 600 x 600 mm tiles 9 to 9.5 mm thick. If your tiles do not fill a container, it is topped up with light, bulky packages, within the weight limit.
Standard tiles travel in cartons on wooden pallets. Large slabs travel upright, on A-frames or in crates: laid flat, they break.
