Frequently asked questions

How to import from China to Morocco: customs, taxes and documents.

The questions importers in Morocco often ask us: where to start, which documents to prepare, how customs duties and VAT are calculated, whom to pay and in which currency, how long to allow.

Your question is not here? Ask it on WhatsApp, in Darija, Arabic, French or English.

In short

How do you import from China to Morocco, and who pays customs?

Two ways. With customs-cleared delivery, our sister company in Morocco imports, pays customs duties and VAT, and delivers to you: you pay in dirhams, with no formalities. To import in your own name, you need your company's ICE, an import licence domiciled with a bank and a customs broker, and you pay duties and VAT at clearance.

Customs-cleared delivery

No import documents on your side

NovaLink Global Solutions SARLAU, our sister company in Morocco, imports under its own ICE, clears the goods through customs and delivers them to you. You receive a Moroccan invoice.

  • No import licence, no customs declaration in your name
  • Payment in Morocco, in dirhams, to NovaLink Global Solutions
  • Customs duties and VAT included in the price

Import in your name

Your company is the importer

Your company imports with its ICE, opens an import licence domiciled with its bank, and your customs broker clears the goods in your name. NovaLink sends you the shipping documents.

  • Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading in your name
  • Payment to NovaLink in China, by bank transfer in USD, EUR or CNY
  • Customs duties and VAT paid by your company, at clearance

Customs and VAT

Import taxes from China to Morocco: how they are calculated.

We do not publish rates: they depend on each product. Here is how the amount is built up.

Who calculates
The Moroccan customs administration (ADII), based on the declaration made at clearance
What counts
The product and its HS code (its tariff heading), the declared value of the goods and their documents
Customs duties
A rate that depends on the product's tariff heading
Import VAT
It is added to the customs duties and paid at clearance
Declared value
Always the invoice value, matching the signed proforma: never an undervalued invoice
With customs-cleared delivery
Duties and VAT paid by NovaLink Global Solutions, included in your price in dirhams
When importing in your name
Duties and VAT paid by your company at clearance. Your customs broker calculates them from the HS code and the invoice.
